Set to open at the end of September 2011, The Perfect 5th Musical Arts Center (aka “P5″) is a new music school in the Harrisburg area that will offer a wide variety of private lessons on instruments including voice, along with clinics and master classes. A “Rock School” will also be offered, along with classes on songwriting, theory, audio and video production and music business education. The school’s Director is Eric Wirsing, an exceptional guitarist who teaches at the facility. Our own Terry Selders is the Associate Director, serving primarily as a consultant since his focus continues to be artist management. He is also the in-house Music Business Instructor and will be teaching classes and holding workshops on music business topics, as well as doing consultations with musicians and aspiring managers.

If you might like to schedule a consultation with Terry, he would be happy to sit down with you for a brief exploratory meeting. After a basic evaluation of your situation and needs, everyone involved can decide if a full consultation would make sense. These meetings usually take place on or near the weekends when Terry is more likely to be in town. We met Terry Selders at the Millennium Music Conference in Harrisburg in early 2011. I asked one question during a panel he was giving, and he invited us to meet with him the following day to discuss our band’s business plan. Terry was extremely helpful, gave us lots of great advice, and was friendly and easy to get along with. He even met with us for an entire hour just to go through the ins and outs of our plan. We came to the MMC last year with a general 2-year plan for our band. After meeting with Terry, that changed into a much more realistic 5-year plan, which will hopefully lead to more long-term growth and success for our band. Our meeting with Terry greatly influenced our approach to releasing albums and new material, and we are grateful for having him as a contact and mentor.
